VANNER's Hyesung has been discharged from his compulsory military service due to mental health concerns.
The 28-year-old, two weeks into his military training, was previously admitted to the National Army Hospital in Daejeon for a medical examination.
At the hospital, the idol was reported to be undergoing treatment for pre-existing panic and mental health issues.
Kleb Entertainment, Hyesung's agency, announced on December 16th through VANNER's official fan cafe that the VANNER member will be discharged from service, effective immediately.
"Two weeks after entering the training camp, Hyesung was admitted to the National Army Daejeon Hospital due to pre-existing panic and mental disorders," the agency said.
"After undergoing a thorough examination, it was determined that he was unable to continue normal military service and required ongoing treatment. As a result, he has been discharged.
"We deeply apologize for causing concern to fans with this sudden news. We fully understand the fans' worries about Hyesung, but we ask for your understanding that we cannot provide additional details beyond what has already been shared," the agency continued.
"We will continue to do our utmost to ensure that Hyesung can focus on his treatment."
Hyesung, VANNER's lead vocalist, debuted in 2019. The idol announced that he enrolled as an active-duty soldier on November 4.
