Girl group aespa flew to China for their KMSTATION fan sign event in Shanghai but overbearing fans made their stay uncomfortable, especially for Winter, who received death threats from Chinese stalker fans, or sasaengs.
On X, one Korean MY (aespa fan) opened up about the recent situation the quartet suffered from in China after sasaengs mobbed the group at a parking lot.
In the videos uploaded, some Chinese fangirls were heard cursing at her intensely and taking her photos without her consent.
"If you fall in love, your mother dies," shouted one sasaeng.
Winter found herself in a difficult situation after the group's hotel information was leaked, causing fangirls to block their cars, per a Nate Pann user. It became chaotic enough that bodyguards had to use their umbrellas to shield the members from their cameras.
The hate against Winter came after speculations that she was dating Jungwon of ENHYPEN. The news emerged after a witness allegedly photographed the two coming out of the same bar on the same night.

The rumors were debunked by both their labels, with SM Entertainment and Belift Lab stating that they were untrue.
In addition, Jungwon himself also stepped forward to deny both his dating and smoking allegations.
MYs continue to demand Winter's label to increase the protection for the idol and refrain from sending her to China in the meantime to avoid a similar occurrence.
