BTS's Jungkook went viral for doing a surprise live stream on the fandom-communicating platform, Weverse, on Dec. 18, Wednesday. At the time, he also broke the record as the most-viewed individual on the site by having 20.2 million real-time spectators.
During his broadcast, the global icon became the talk of the town for mentioning various stories, such as his military life and his huge love for G-Dragon.
He also held a mini-singing session with ARMYs (BTS fandom) and jammed to various songs, such as BLACKPINK's Rosé's "APT" feat. Bruno Mars.
At the time, the viewers suggested he sing the song but Jungkook initially hesitated.
"APT? Should I? But I don't think I should. Bruno Mars-sunbaenim did such a great job, (and) it's so high. I don't think I should," said the idol.
The idol was wary of singing this at first due to its high notes. Compared to his vocals, the international singer has a rather higher range.
However, when Jungkook's video spread on X, his words were twisted and interpreted with malicious intentions by some netizens. It was not clear if they were BLINKs (BLACKPINK fans), but many attacked the idol for not mentioning Rosé given that she's the main singer of the hit track.
This also caused a backlash against the female idol, with some fans creating the narrative that he only acknowledges Mars's contribution because of her skills.
On the flip side, Jungkook not mentioning Rosé earned approval from some ARMYs and BLINKs. They think both fandoms would be even more chaotic if Rosé was mentioned in the broadcast.
