Girl group fromis_9 performed their final stage together as a group on the January 29th airing of the 2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon Awards.
The eight-member group performed their hit 'Supersonic,' an electronic-dance-inspired single released in 2024.
The performance went without a hitch but member Baek Ji Heon was spotted tearing up during the closing stage, with tears welling in her eyes as she covered her mouth. Others appeared to be quite emotional, including Lee Chae Young, who turned her face away from the camera.
The group announced that they'd officially ended their exclusive contract with Pledis Entertainment at the end of 2024, without plans for renewal.
After seven years together, the girls revealed that only five — Song Ha Young, Park Ji Won, Lee Na Gyung, Lee Chae Young, and Baek Ji Heon — will stay on to pursue group activities together, under a new agency ASND.
It is not yet clear if the new group will continue using the name fromis_9.
Three members -- Lee Sae Rom, Lee Seo Yeon, and Roh Ji Sun -- have departed from the group, opting instead to pursue individual careers.
"ASND would like to express our sincerest gratitude to (our) artists who showed great courage and decided to join us," the company told News1.
"We promise to give them generous support and encouragement so that they can pursue their dreams in the future."
