Maria Sharapova announced that she is splitting with her coach Thomas Hogstedt because he "will not be able to travel in the near future," leaving fans wondering if her relationship with Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov played any role.

Grigor Dimitrov, who dated Serena Williams before getting serious with the Russian tennis celebrity, is known to frequently travel with his girlfriend.

Although Maria Sharapova did not provide further details for the reason of her split with her coach, it seems they ended in excellent terms.

"I am very thankful for all his work, and wish him much success in the future," the statement on her website read.

Hogstedt joined Sharapova at the end of 2010 season and helped her win the French Open and retain the number one ranking after coming out of her shoulder injury, DNA India reports.

Although Grigor Dimitrov is known to frequently travel and spend time with his girlfriend, the Russian tennis star doesn't limit herself to only travelling with others.

Maria Sharapova spent plenty of time cheering for her boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov during his time in the Wimbledon 2013, but recent photos of the tennis star's ventures through Mexico and Sweden reveal her passion for travelling alone.

Grigor Dimitrov, who is Serena Williams' ex-boyfriend, was left out of Twitter pictures and messages chronicling Maria Sharapova's time spent in Stockholm and oceanside cliffs in Mexico.

"#Stockholm is my new favorite visit. It only took me 26 years to get here!" Maria Sharapova posted on Twitter last week, accompanied with a photo of her on a bridge with the city's skyline visible in the back.

"From the cliffs of #Mexico," Maria Sharapova also tweeted last week, posting a picture of herself sitting on a wooden fence while overlooking the sea.
