One Direction's Zayn Malik got a tattoo of girlfriend Perrie Edwards, and she finally gives her opinion on Zayn's new ink and symbol of love.

"It is weird," Perrie told MTV, when asked what she thought of Zayn's tattoo. "But it's nice that every time he's away from us he just has to look and I'm there on his arm."

Zayn was spotted with a new bicep tattoo that fans said looked a lot like a cartoon version of his girlfriend of one-year, HNGN reports.

Tattoo artist John Garancheski confirmed to MTV that the tattoo really is of Perrie, who is part of the UK girl group Little Mix.

"He showed me a picture of his girlfriend, Perrie, and he was like 'I kind of want it to look like her, but not to be her, to kind of be like a comic-style version of her," the Maryland tattoo artist said. "He wasn't pushy. He was like 'I really want this and I'd like you to do it."

The tattoo could suggest a long-term commitment in Zayn's mind. Perrie said she thought it was sweet, but was not sure she would show her love in the same way.

When asked if she would get a tattoo of Zayn, she replied, "I do want tattoos but I don't know what I want yet ...I'm gonna have to have a look."

"I think that is majorly flattering," Perrie's bandmate Jesy Nelson added about Zayn's tattoo.

Her other bandmate Leigh-Anne joked that the tatt was a good way of warning other ladies that Zayn was taken.

According to Garancheski, 1D members Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne also visited the tattoo shop during their world tour, but only Malik and Tomlinson actually got inked.
