Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Release: Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 To Skip 4.2.2 Firmware For Google’s OS Update?

While the official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean release is not yet announced by Google, there are rumors already claiming that Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 will be updated with the upcoming mobile operating system, missing the 4.2.2 firmware.

Although users of Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 are still patiently waiting for the official Android 4.2.2 update, new reports have emerged that these Samsung devices might completely skip this version of the firmware and just go directly for the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

International Business Times reported that tipsters from Samsung R&D India told Temefy that the South Korean smartphone manufacturer is currently working on both the Android 4.2.2 and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2.

Moreover, iTech Post shared that the 2 versions of the Android firmware updates are also being developed for the Octa core version of Samsung Galaxy S4.

However, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean release seems to be delayed as it was initially anticipated to arrive this month. But new reports were proposing that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware update will not roll out on Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 until the end of this year, perhaps November or December.

Reportedly, the Korean phone maker is still deciding which firmware update to roll out for its older devices, whether the Android 4.2.2 or the Android 4.3. Experts believe that it would make more sense if Samsung will skip the Android 4.2.2 update and just roll out Android 4.3 Jelly Bean directly for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3.

The post noted, "Android 4.3 would possibly be several months old by the time the next update is expected for the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 at year's end."

However, since there are firmware leaks for both the Android 4.2.2 and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware, this could indicate that Samsung may go in either director when it comes to rolling out updates to the devices.

For instance, a leaked Android 4.2.2 for the Samsung Galaxy S3 was made available in May while just last month,  the unofficial Android 4.3 Android Jelly Bean firmware was already spotted in the Google Play Edition of Galaxy S4.
