`Hunger Games 2’ Posters and Trailer Released by Lionsgate; The 75th Hunger Games Quarter Quell Declared (Video)

“Hunger Games 2” is on its way to production and Lionsgate declared that it is commemorating the 75th Hunger Games Quarter Quell with a series of character posters for the second movie in the “Hunger Games” series, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” The posters show the chacters in skin-tight black-grey bodysuits with a logo representing the 75th Hunger Games on each picture. The posters pair Katniss and Peeta; Johanna Mason; Finnick and Mags; Wiress and Beete; Brutus and Enobaria and Cashmere and Gloss, each of the former Hunger Games winners who now have to participate in the Quarter Quell.

Hunger Games 2 details were announced on the Lionsgate Capitol Facebook page. In the Hunger Games 2, every quarter century, the Capitol honors the anniversary of its victors over the districts with a special edition of The Games. This year, for the first time in history, the favorite Victors will return as Tributes. The winning tributes all return in the latest game for the first time in history.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is based on the book of the same name and is dictatorship government in the future that pits its citizens against each other to show they have total control over their citizens. Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), was co-victor of the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson,) who is her fellow District 12 combatant. This was the first time in the history of Panem’s Hunger games that there have been co-winners. The two winning tributes attempt to return to their “normal” lives, but have to go on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts.

Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) - a competition that could change Panem forever. Their mentor in the first match, Haymitch (Woody Harrelson), warns them that by co-winning the games, they sparked open rebellion in the impoverished districts of Panem. This has enraged President Snow (Donald Sutherland) and the Capitol government. The government finds a way to send the two winners back to the arena, along with other previous victors of the Hunger Games. Unlike previous Hunger Games, the 12 to 18 year old age limit is not enforced but one male and female tribute will still be chosen from each of the 12 district.

The Capitol mandated that District Members must #CelebrateYourVictors. You can learn more about the upcoming film and check out the posters at TheHungerGamesExplorer.com.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has over 50 million copies in print in the U.S. alone. The film also stars Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks and Stanley Tucci. A new Catching Fire trailer will premiere Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con.
