Andrew Garfield: Spider-Man In ‘The Avengers’ Movie Would Be ‘Awesome,’ He Says At Comic-Con; Talks At Panel Dressed In Character With Spidey Costume

Andrew Garfield spoke at the first panel in Hall H at Comic-Con in San Diego on Friday, to promote "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," and what he had to say had fans at Comic-Con all abuzz.

Garfield, 29, is an avid comic book fan and was asked by a fan which famous storyline from Spider-Man's history he'd like to bring to the big screen, HitFix.com reports.

"I'd like to see him with the Avengers," Garfield immediately replied. "Wouldn't that be awesome? Just sayin'."

Garfield was joined on stage by director Marc Webb, co-stars Jamie Foxx and Dane DeHaan, as well as producer Avi Arad.

According to HitFix.com, producers' ears at Sony Pictures may have perked up, as Joss Whedon's "The Avengers 2" is coming up. According to the website, Spider-Man has been a member of the comic book Avengers for almost 10 years. However, the two companies would have to come to a mutually beneficial agreement before Garfield's dream has any chance of coming true.

This is because Marvel Studios owns the movie rights to "The Avengers," and Sony owns the rights to "Spider-Man," Comicbook.com reports

Andrew Garfield appeared at the panel fully dressed in his Spider-Man costume. Two years ago, he wore a similar fan costume but came as Andrew Garfield. This year, Garfield was completely in character, with his mask on, and even pretended he didn't know who Garfield was.

"Who is Andrew?" Garfield asked Jamie Foxx on the panel.
Foxx: "He's the actor who plays you in the movie."
Spider-Man: "I thought Eduardo Savrin played me. Oh, interesting. I thought he made Facebook."

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is scheduled to be released in movie theaters in the United States on May 2, 2014.
