Dennis Farina Dead: 'Law & Order' Star Dies From Blood Clot In His Lung

Dennis Farina dead at 69-years-old due to a blood clot in his lung in Scottsdale, Ariz. on Monday.

The former "Law & Order" star was a police officer before becoming a big-time actor. Dennis Farina dead, but in the Hollywood world can also be remembered for his roles in "Midnight Run," "Snatch" and "Get Shorty." He joined the "Law & Order" cast for two seasons as as Det. Joe Fontana, the replacement after the retirement of Jerry Orbach's character Lennie Briscoe.

Farina is survived by his ex-wife, Patricia and their three sons, two granddaughters and four grandsons.

The actor was a former police officer and now is dead after roles in over 50 movies and T.V. shows. Farina served 18 years in the Chicago Police Department's burglary division, from 1967 to 1985.

As far as his personal life is concerned, David Farina was arrested on May 11, 2008, for carrying a loaded .22 caliber pistol through LAX airport security. Farina was taken to LAPD's Pacific Division. He was booked on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon that was not registered to him. On July 17, 2008, after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors, Farina pleaded no contest and was sentenced to two years probation and a year later, the judge expunged it from Farina's clean record.

His last work was with "Luck," a drama on HBO that premiered in January of 2012, but was cancelled half-way through the first season.
