Dennis Farina Dead: 'Law And Order' Star Had Two-Year Love Affair With Marianne Cahill While Married To Ex-Wife Patricia Farina

Dennis Farina, the 'Law and Order' star who died Monday morning in Arizona after suffering a blood clot in his lung, had a two-year love affair with his partner Marianne Cahill while he was married to his ex-wife Patricia Farina.

The 69-year-old actor dated Marianne Cahill for 35 years, according to the Los Angeles Times, indicating that he he began dating her in 1978 - two years before his divorce from Patricia Farina in 1980. However, it is speculated the couple had already split by that time and were just finalizing their divorce paperwork. 

Dennis Farina had recently settled into the TV circuit. After a memorable stint on "Law & Order" as Det. Joe Fontana, Dennis Farina's last regular TV role was on HBO's "Luck," where he played Gus Demitriou, the driver, confidante and "muscle" for horse owner Chester "Ace" Bernstein, played by Dustin Hoffman, the Los Angeles Times reports. 

He also recently had a recurring role in Fox's "New Girl," playing Nick's father, the Los Angeles Times also reports. 

Some of Dennis Farina's most famous films included "Out of Sight," "Midnight Run," "Get Shorty," "Saving Private Ryan," "Reindeer Games," "The Mod Squad," "Manhunter" and "Thief." 

Dennis Farina also leaves behind three sons and six grandchildren.
