The Last Of Us Comic Book Spotlight: How American Dreams Kill And Ellie's Journey Of Survival

As The Last of Us continues to stay on top of sales charts and general acclaim, be sure to check out The Last of Us: American Dreams, the four-part comic book series that focuses on Ellie and her story prior to the game.

"The comics-exclusive prequel to the new game from Naughty Dog! Creative director Neil Druckmann teams with breakout comics star Faith Erin Hicks to present the story of thirteen-year-old Ellie's life in a violent, postpandemic world," writes the Dark Horse official website statement.

"A newcomer at a military boarding school, Ellie is reluctant to toe the line, which earns her new enemies-and her first glimpse of the world outside."

So far, Issues 1, 2, and 3 have been released, with Issue 4 slated to hit stores July 31. And the comic book finale gives Ellie her big motivation that leads into The Last of Us video game.

"During the last speech Ellie gives during the game, she lists off all the people that have died on this journey, and the first name she lists is Riley," says the game's writer and director Neil Druckmann according to Joystiq.

"She was the first to die. They were both kind of bitten at the same time, but that little snippet in the comic influenced the development of the game, because originally we didn't have anyone with Ellie when she was bitten."

Thus, this moment not only confirms Ellie's immunity, but also becomes a big motivation of her actions in the game.

So if you're a fan of The Last of Us, be sure to get a glimpse of Ellie's past with The Last of Us: American Dreams at a comic book store near you.
