Athletics not in Oscar’s mind

Last month, CNN reported that the athlete has once again donned his blade-shaped prosthetic legs to dash around the track.

But it wasn’t for athletics. According to a statement released by his family and posted by CNN, Oscar Pistorius is running for his emotional well being.
“His focus at this time remains entirely on the court case,” Oscar’s family said. According to CNN, his family have pushed him to spend time on the track with the goal of helping him “process his trauma and prepare for trial.”

His agent, Peet Van Zyl told the BBC Radio Five Live that for his client, being an athlete is “furthest from his mind.”

Oscar was not drafted in the South African team competing for the Paralympic Athletic World Championship, which begins last Saturday at Lyon, France

Upcoming TV appearance

A few weeks ago, the double-amputee athlete has invited further media attention when it was learned that he would appear at the TV show of famous British magician, Dynamo, less than two weeks from now, according to U.K. newspaper The Sun.

The episode of “Dynamo: Magician Impossible” featuring Oscar Pistorius will air July 25. It was reported that it was shot last November, three months before the incident with Reeva Steenkamp occurred. The details of the episode featuring Oscar are being kept under wraps, according to The Sun.

The athlete has been charged of murder for the death of his supermodel girlfriend last Feburary 14. His arrest stunned many who see him as a national hero.

Oscar Pistorius has consistently denied the charges that he murdered Reeva Steenkamp. He claims that he mistook the blonde beauty for a burglar and out of fear fired shots at the bathroom door.

The media and public have different opinions on whether it would be appropriate to air the show featuring the Olympian and Paralympian. Some argue it would be disrespectful to Steenkamp’s parents to do so.

Producers of the magic tricks show, speaking with The Sun, refuted such arguments, saying that Oscar’s appearance would just be a short clip, and that the athlete has a small part in the show overall.

The new series, which began last Thursday, will also feature Dynamo with other high-profile personalities. Reported individuals having a slot at the show are movie actor Samuel L. Jackson, Olympian Jessica Ennis and Celebrity Juice creator and comic Keith Lemon.
