Royal Baby Born, How Long Until We Know Princess Diana’s Grandson’s Name? Royal Bookies Laying Odds; Prince Elvis of Cambridge?

Royal baby born to Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, and her husband Prince William. The royal couple’s first child was "was safely delivered” in the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital at 4:24 p.m., London time, on July 22. The boy weighed 8 lbs., 6 oz., according to a formal press release issued by Kensington Palace. Remember those numbers, they were all on the betting sheets.

The royal baby's official title will be “His Royal Highness Prince” something “of Cambridge.” Bookies all over London are taking bets on what that something will be. They are laying odds on the name of Princess Diana’s grandson. The Queen will know the royal baby's name before the Royal Family makes the announcement.

The odds-on favorite for the royal baby name is George. Paddy Power, a leading London bookmaker, places the odds at 7-to-4, Ladbrokes will pay out two-to-one. James is also a favorite name which also has 2-1 odds. Other top contenders for the royal baby name are Alexander, Arthur, Louis, Henry (that was Prince Harry’s birth name), Richard and Phillip. The name Charles didn’t even make the top ten.

Names with the biggest payoffs, though are Joffrey, the bratty child king on "Game of Thrones," Elvis, Tyler and Rumpelstiltskin all have 500-to-1 odds.

Prince Elvis of Cambridge? It’s a long-shot, but that’s where my money’s going.

Tradition holds that William and Kate Middleton probably give their son more than one name. Prince William's full name is William Arthur Phillip Louis. Prince Harry’s full name Henry Charles Albert David. The Prince of Wales, their father is actually Prince Charles Phillip Arthur George. Queen Elizabeth II was born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary.

The British bookmakers Coral admitted that the royal birth was the biggest non-sporting betting they’ve had in their history. People were betting on everything from the color of the royal baby’s hair and weight to whether the mum would use hypnobirthing.

The Royal beauty hinted to the press that she would be using hypnobirthing to ease her labor. This led to an upswing in interest in the growing practice. Elena Beloff, an NGH-certified consulting hypnotist at www.insidehypnosis.com, said “Hypnosis is a wonderful way to help people achieve deep relaxation. Pain can be reduced tremendously and mental distractions like worry or fear could be put on hold. While you are in the state of profound physical and mental relaxation natural process of birthing can become much more smooth, simply because your muscles are relaxed and you allow your body to do its work, it has a perfect evolutionary program for it.”

Before the baby was born, the odds-on favorite was Alexdra, at 7-4. Betters really wanted a girl. Whatever the name is, there will be a whole generation of babies named after the royal baby.
