Kelsey Grammer To Play Villain In Transformers 4; Mark Wahlberg to Co-Star in Director Michael Bay's Big Film, Will It Still Be a Hit?

Emmy-award winning actor, Kelsey Grammer, has been tapped by director Michael Bay to play the human antagonist in Paramount's "Transformers 4," according to TheWrap.

Grammer joins a revamped cast that includes Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci, as well as up-and-coming actors Jack Reynor ("What Richard Did") and Nicole Peltz ("Bates Motel").

Though Grammer's best known for his years spent playing Frasier Crane, he's not unfamiliar with playing evil roles. He recently won a Golden Globe for his turn as a scheming politician (is there any other kind?) on Starz's "Boss," will play a counter-intelligence operative who figures prominently in the plot.

A five-time Emmy Award winner, Grammer is the first actor in television history to receive multiple Emmy nominations for performing the same role on three series.

He received two nominations for his original portrayal of Dr. Frasier Crane on Cheers, another for his guest appearance in that role on Wings (1990), and nine nominations (earning four awards) as Outstanding Actor for his work on "Frasier" (1993).

Over the years, Dr. Frasier Crane has become one of television's most endearing and enduring characters. In addition to his Emmys, Grammer has won two Golden Globe Awards, two American Comedy Awards and a People's ChoiceAward for his portrait.

Grammer will play a character very different from Dr. Fraser Crane

The "Transformers" franchise could use a flesh-and-blood bad guy to root against, so let's hope Grammer is able to showcase the cackling menace he brought to the villainous role of Sideshow Bob on "The Simpsons" in "Transformers 4."

Ehren Kruger wrote the script, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing with Don Murphy, Ian Bryce and Tom DeSanto.

Grammer will soon be seen alongside Sylvester Stallone in John Herzfeld's "Reach Me," an indie drama whose executive producers include Cassian Elwes and Frankie Lindquist.

Grammer's ex-wife, Camille, has been a cast member of the reality television show, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills during which many of the details of their marriage were made public.
