“Carrie Diaries” scooped up Lindsey Gort to play the hot, young, man-eating PR rep Samantha Jones. Lindsay Gort, the singer/actress who caused a stir on “American Idol” when she said she was a fortune teller, probably saw this coming. Kim Cattrall, who originated the iconic “Sex and The City” role, advised her younger self to “have a blast.” Kim Cattrall will also jump on “The Carrie Diaries” in season two.

New pix have been making the rounds showing Lindsey Gort in her “Carrie Diaries” role and she could pass for a young Kim Cattrall. CW describes Samantha as “a ballsy, beautiful and sexy young woman from the panhandle of Florida.” Lindsey Gort, fresh off “2 Gunz” with Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg, will be taking the Samantha Jones back to the 80s, when she first met the future sex diarist Carrie Bradshaw. The two become life-long gal pals.

“Carrie Diaries” producers revealed that Samantha is actually a cousin to the show’s mean girl Donna LaDonna.

AnnaSophia Robb, who plays Carrie in “The Carrie Diaries,” told TVLine “I’m really, really excited. I think it’s going to be so much fun. I’m looking forward to seeing where that goes.”

In making the announcement “Carrie Diaries” brass said “Through a surprising connection, our young Carrie Bradshaw will meet one of the most important people in her life this season in a role made iconic by Kim Cattrall: Samantha Jones, a ballsy, beautiful and sexy young woman from the panhandle of Florida who has made her way — and already a name for herself — in the rock ’n’ roll scene of 1980s NYC.”

The original Samantha Jones, Kim Cattrall took to Twitter to bless the union of Carrie Diaries and Lindsey Gort. She had this advice on how to play the character, “So happy u’re playing Fearless Sam. The key 2 her is her heart. She never judges those she loves. Have a blast! Kimx”

Lindsey tweeted back “Thank you so much! what fabulous, amazingly sexy shoes to fill xoxo.”

Cattrall will also be joining cast. She confessed “I had to keep it a secret, but I think it’s going to be so much fun. I’m looking forward to seeing where that goes.”

Samantha is the second addition to the cast that CW announced. As we got wind of in the season one finale, Bennet, played by Jake Robinson, revealed that Stanford Blatch, played by Willie Garson on the series, is his roommate. Stanford Blatch, as any fan of SATC knows, will go on to be Carrie’s gay BFFR
