Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Rumors: Baker, McGann, McCoy, Davison To Appear In Special? 12th Doctor To Be Announced In August

Despite "Doctor Who" appearing at the San Diego Comic-Con, many rumors remain unresolved, including the possible appearance of a classic Doctor in the 50th Anniversary Special.

According to Radio Times, the 12th Doctor to take over for Matt Smith after the 50th Anniversary and Christmas Special could be announced as early as August in a surprise Doctor Who Confidential report.

This has some credence given that Matt Smith was announced in a similar manner in 2010.

In addition, the update purports that one of either Colin Baker, Paul McGann, Tom Baker, Sylvester McCoy or Peter Davison will make an appearance in the 50th Anniversary episode, in addition to Matt Smith and David Tennant.

So, in addition to Smith, Tennant, and their companions Jenna Coleman and Billie Piper, will one of these Classic Doctors join the cast along with John Hurt?

But, as Doctor Who TV notes, the appearance of a Doctor besides Matt Smith, David Tennant, and John Hurt has been fervently denied by the cast, including most recently at Comic-Con.

Check out the interview below, where Matt Smith affirms the lack of a Classic Doctor.

In addition, Steven Moffat also explained why featuring the older Doctors would be impossible.

"We can't do 11 Doctors! Three of them are dead!" said Moffat to EW.

"What we're not doing is the traditional massive reunion. It's a different kind of anniversary, and the spine of that are David and Matt."

Are they lying?
