But in this review, earlier posted by the International Business Times, we delve at key differences between the two handsets.

The Design
Starting off with the design, Sony decided to go with a similar slick body on their new Z1 Compact after the success of its predecessor, the Xperia Z1. It fits much easier in the pocket now that it has been toned down to 5 by 2.56 by 0.37 inches in comparison to the 5.67 by 2.91 by 0.33 inches of the Z1. In regards to weight, Sony has managed to make the Z1 compact at 137 grams making it 33 grams lighter than the Z1.

The Screen
The Xperia Z1 has the bigger screen of the two devices. It has 5 inches which is 0.7 inches longer than the Xperia Z1 compact’s screen. Users will notice that the contrast is much better with livelier colors than the Z1 compact thanks to the 441 pixels per inch. The Z1 compact however makes up for this with a full HD resolution that is an impressive 720 by 1,280 pixels distributed at 342 pixels per inch.

The Hardware
The Xperia Z1 comes with a 2.2GHz quad-core processor backed up by 2GBs of RAM. On the Xperia Z1 compact, Sony decided to go with a tad more powerful 2.3 GHz quad-core processor also backed by 2GBs of Ram. As for the platform, both devices are running on Jelly Bean.
The Camera

Whenever there’s a new Sony smartphone, all enthusiasts dash to check out the camera. Sony decided to install the same 20.7 megapixel camera on the Z1 compact that they have on the Xperia Z1. This is of course better than what most smartphones in the market are offering today. You also get the very same camera functions like geo-tagging, image stabilization and HDR.

The Battery Life
When it comes to the battery, this is the only place that Sony decided to take a step down from the Xperia Z1. The battery is 2,300 mAh which is less than the Xperia Z1’s 3,000mAh so you will have a noticeably shorter battery life.

The Price Tag
According to the International Business Times, the Xperia Z1 will be retailing between $549-834 in Australia. Sony has not yet announced the Xperia Z1 Compact price but speculations are that it will be lower than its predecessor.
