iPad mini 3 release date: Last year, a lot of people praised Apple for listening to their demands of releasing an iPad mini with Retina Display. However, it turned out that consumers were more interested on the iPad 5, or iPad Air due to its super thin design and a more powerful A7 chipset. 

Due to what happened last year which continues up to this point, it looks like Apple will have to move the development of the iPad mini 3 until next year, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities. 

On the other hand, Apple is now developing the next generation iPad Air, iPad 6 which would boast higher-end specs than the already impressively-spec'd iPad 5. 

In addition,the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which has plagued the rumor mill for the past several months, may also be under way as well. However, seeing that the reception of Samsung's 12.2-inch slate is far from acceptable, the Cupertino has since then moved its focus on a new iPad.

"We believe Apple plans to launch upgraded iPad Air early this year, and will accelerate development of 12.9-inch iPad", Kuo said.

 "As such, more resources will be allocated to these two products, which will affect the progress of the development of new iPad mini. All told, we think chances of the debut of a new iPad mini in 2014 are slim. In addition, the 12.9-inch iPad is unlikely to be offered in 2014. For these reasons, we predict the only new iPad product in 2H14 will be the upgraded iPad Air."
