‘The Amazing Spider Man 2’ Plot Spoilers: Villains To Take Center Stage! Sinister Six To Be Introduced! Sony Reveals Its Edge Over The Other Studios

Like most of the super hero movies, "The Amazing Spider Man 2" will soon take a darker tone. As they only have one hero, the villains are expected to step up.

The Spider Man Universe promises a different breed of super villains, and an entirely new dimension of approaching the polarity between good and evil. Thus, "The Amazing Spider Man 2" will serve as the pivotal linchpin for the sequels and spinoffs.

Sony has four more pictures after "TASM 2" with two more sequels and two spinoffs featuring Venom and the Sinister Six. They will take the opportunity to introduce them right at the end of the upcoming sequel.

Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal talked to EW:"At the tail end of this movie we set up some of the other characters that will probably end up being in the Sinister Six. We're going forward on all fronts."  EW adds: "The studio hasn't yet announced the exact makeup of its big-screen Sinister Six, but comic book fan Garfield says he personally digs Venom, Doc Ock, Vulture, and Kraven."

As always, it is not required that they follow the comic book canon so Sony has hinted on a horde of Spider Man villains, any of which could be part of the Sinister Six.

Sony is taking a bold, radical step that is borne out of necessity. They did not acquire any superhero group (just Spider Man) but they did acquire a super villain team. That will be their 'edge' over Marvel and Fox, whose headliners are the Avengers and the X-Men.

Producer Avi Arad also spoke with EW:  "Villains can be very entertaining. It's not like somebody's born and they're a villain. Something happens and it changes their lives. Some people can deal with it - they become the heroes. Some people can't and hate the world because of what they felt was done to them - they become the villains."

To which, producer Matt Tolmach added: "Great villains are the characters you remember. There's(sic) a lot of us in those people. It's hard to identify with people who are good all the time."

Indeed, super heroes do not get acting nominations or even citations. Heath Ledger's Joker, even Jack Nicholson's version, brought the Batman movies to life. Loki became the scene stealer for Thor.

These precedents represent the vision that Sony wants to emulate. But they are taking it a step further. Not even the Joker had his solo movie. Now, Venom will have one, as well as the first super-villain team movie.
