iPad Air 2 Release Date May Still Be In October This Year, Rumored iPad Pro To Be Called iPad 6 Instead?

iPad Air 2 release date: Last year when Apple launched the iPad 5, or iPad Air, it was not what most people were looking forward to, but the iPad mini with Retina. However, it turned out that its sleek, super slim, and lightweight design immediately stole the hearts of Apple fans, making it a much faster sell for the Cupertino company.

As a result, a number of recent reports and notes to investors claim that Apple would be working on the iPad Air 2, and would be released most possibly in October, exactly a year after the previous generation model was launched.

So what would we expect from such a device as the iPad Air 2? Well, a report from Product Reviews say that the new version of the iPad 2 will most likely sport improved specs, though not by much. It could possibly have some changes in hardware, some minor software tweaks, and the full integration of 64-bit applications.

Meanwhile, the iPad Pro has been in the rumor mill for quite a while could be renamed as the iPad 6. But why?

That's because Samsung's 12.2-inch Android tablet is named 'Pro', and for branding reasons Apple could as well use its well-known naming strategy and brand it as the iPad 6 rather than build up a new name in the Pro.

But if you think of it, the iPad 6 should really be the iPad Air 2, but due to its distinct design, Apple will most likely make an entirely separate tablet lineup out of it.

Such strategy has worked with the iPad mini when it was first launched in 2012, and it was renamed iPad mini with Retina display last year.

And since the iPad Air 2, iPad 6 and iPad mini Retina (2) all have different screen sizes, it all makes perfect sense.
