Doctor Who Season 8 Villain Confirmed As Karen Gillan Talks Oculus, Guardians Of The Galaxy: Nebula Is 'A Sadist'

As "Doctor Who" season 8 continues filming, a new villain has been added to the series as alum Karen Gillan becomes a movie star.

According to TVLine, British actor Ben Miller will be joining "Doctor Who" season 8 as a villain.

“Mark Gatiss has written us a storming villain for his new episode, and with [Peter] Capaldi in the TARDIS, we knew we needed somebody special to send everybody behind the sofa,” says executive producer Steven Moffat.

"One of the things which new Doctor Who sort of invented was the idea of a celebrity historical -- Charles Dickens, Agatha Christie, Winston Churchill, Shakespeare. There’s three writers there, so I think Jane Austen stands quite a quite a good chance actually," said Gatiss according to Blastr.

"I'm not quite sure what the adventure would be. Maybe an alien posing as Mr. Darcy."

So what kind of villain will Ben Miller portray?

Meanwhile, "Doctor Who" alum Karen Gillan is making waves in the movie world with "Oculus" and "Guardians of Galaxy" arriving soon.

All I want is good projects. Typecasting does happen, but you do have some control over what you choose to do. And if the good stuff is genre, then I'm still going to do it. And I don't really care about that," said Karen Gillan to Moviefone regarding her genre roles.

"I'm about to do a comedy for ABC, which couldn't be further from this stuff. I'm sure my agents have a plan, but I don't."

So how does Karen Gillan portray someone as scary as Nebula in "Guardian of the Galaxy?"

"I don't think you can really play something scary. I don't think that's a valuable note. Because you being scary is what the audience should feel, not something that you should do. So I played her like a sadist. She really enjoys what she's doing. So that could be scary. I hope."
