Upcoming Motorola Phones 2014: Company's Next Flagship Dubbed X+1, Could Boast Leather Back Cover, Updated Specs To Take On Android Mobile Competition

Upcoming Motorola phones 2014: It is already several months since Motorola launched a fresh Android smartphone, and its last flagship is almost a year old already. Are we still expecting something from the former Google-owned company?

Last year, Motorola finally made a successful comeback in the mobile competition. And while it did not garner any top market share awards, its quality Moto X and Moto G handsets have become favorites for both Motorola and Android fans.

Now, almost a year after the current Motorola flagship was announced, a fresh rumor has surfaced.

According to a report by BGR, the ever-reliable leaker EV Leaks have done it again and revealed the alleged brand name for the upcoming Android smartphone.

Dubbed as the Moto X+1, the smartphone is allegedly in the works already, and may see the light of day in the coming months. Knowing EV Leaks, it could still be a matter of weeks or months until more details or the actual device is announced.

Aside from the Moto X+1, other devices which are expected from Motorola include cheaper mobile devices, an Android phablet (the company's first), and even a wearable device, which has become popular recently.

In the report, the upcoming Motorola smartphone will allegedly pack a leather back casing similar to that of Samsung's faux leather back cover. Unfortunately, no further details about the upcoming flagship phone are available at the moment.

During the second half of 2013, we expected Motorola to make a huge comeback, thanks to its owner then, Google. The search giant has even given Motorola a hand in developing the world's first modular phone, Project Ara.

A year later and the company's future is once again uncertain. It was recently sold by Google to emerging smartphone power Lenovo for more than $3 billion. However, Google continued working on the modular phone, which could have been the big break Motorola has been waiting for.
