Huawei Ascend P7 Specs Slightly Lower-End Compared To Current Flagships, Only Packs 1.8GHz Quad-Core CPU, Gets 13MP/5MP Camera Combo, 5" Display

Huawei Ascend P7 specs: For the past few months, we have been kept excited by Huawei that it is serious in taking on the Android competition, especially with the impending release of its upcoming flagship smartphone - the Ascend P7.

However, as we get closer and closer to its announcement, we see that it may just be all hype for the Chinese mobile phone manufacturer.

In a recent report, the Ascend P7 has been ranked against the top droids in the market in a benchmarking app, only to rise above the low-end spec'd Motorola Moto G.

But according to a report from GSM Arena, it may not be all bad news about the Huawei Ascend P7. That's because the previously leaked 1.6GHz CPU is in fact a quad-core CPU running at 1.8GHz.

So the question now is, how would a 1.8GHz-powered device stack against current flagships with 2.3-2.5GHz quad-core CPUs. Well, practically speaking, it would become insignificant, though we may still give Huawei the benefit of the doubt.

Aside from the CPU, it is all well for the Ascend P7. A recent report has confirmed that it will pack a 5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP primary camera at the back, and a 5MP front facing cam.

Also on board is a 16GB internal storage which can be expanded through the phone's microSD card slot. Considering Huawei's choices in the past, the Ascend P7 would most likely get Android 4.2.2 or 4.3 Jelly Bean.

As far as build and design are concerned, the upcoming Huawei phone still looks better than its competitors in the same spec range. However, pricing will be a crucial factor for this type of smartphone which has its compromises (CPU frequency and chipset).

On the other hand, if it is within the $250 category, then it would surely be a great deal for Android fans.

Stay tuned when the Huawei phone gets officially announced on May 7.
