NBA Trade Rumors: Chicago Bulls Early Playoff Exit Prompts Changes! Will They Pursue Carmelo Anthony Trade?

The Chicago Bulls made the playoffs despite its much publicized injury woes. While most teams would be pleased with that, the Bulls live up to a high standard.

They say that defense wins playoff games. While that may be true, the point of winning is scoring more than the other team. The Chicago Bulls were exposed in the first round of the playoffs. They could not get anyone to score.

Carmelo Anthony is one of the best scorers in the game. If he would join the Bulls, the scoring woes would be a thing of the past. Bleacher Report illustrates the picture:

"The Bulls' biggest struggle is pretty evident, and it didn't really need the postseason to manifest itself. Chicago is the lowest-scoring team in the NBA and has the fourth-worst offensive rating.

Anthony, who has the 12th-best scoring averaging in NBA history, would be a pretty big step in the right direction. He's one of the two or three best pure scorers in the league, along with Kevin Durant and LeBron James.

Anthony is the type of player who can make the Bulls' system work properly."

Carmelo Anthony is very frustrated at this point in his career. His individual members are probably the best of his career and yet, he missed the playoffs for the first time in his career. In contrast, his high-school rival LeBron James is on his way to pursuing his third straight championship.

However, the Chicago Bulls do not have the salary cap space to offer for Carmelo Anthony, who will most likely become a free agent this off season. If Melo will force a trade to the Bulls, Chicago has a lot of assets (they even have two draft picks). Perhaps the biggest sacrificial lamb on the Bulls part is Taj Gibson. Gibson is bound to fetch a higher paycheck and the Bulls will not be in a position to match AND acquire Carmelo.

The scenario of trading Gibson, first round picks in 2014, perhaps the rights to Nikola Mirotic and other assets would be enough. The Bulls might keep a pick for the vacant power forward position, and it is likely the Knicks ask for Jimmy Butler.

The trade rumor season is on!
