Ellen Page On Coming Out And Girlfriend Amidst 'X-Men Days Of Future Past' Bryan Singer Abuse Controversy: 'I Want To Love Someone Freely'

After coming out as gay, actress Ellen Page wants nothing more than to show her affection to her girlfriend—whoever that may be.

"I expected so much more hate," says Ellen Page to Flare magazine, but the reaction "was just remarkably positive, which is beautiful, because it's indicative of the change that's happening."

"You think you're in a place where you're all, 'I'm thrilled to be gay, I have no issues about being gay anymore, I don't feel shame about being gay,' but you actually do. You're just not fully aware of it. I think I still felt scared about people knowing. I felt awkward around gay people; I felt guilty for not being myself."

And what does she wish for with her new out and proud life? To share it with a girlfriend.

The more time went by, the more something just happened, an 'Oh my God – I want to love someone freely and walk down the street and hold my girlfriend's hand.'"

If Ellen Page does in fact have a girlfriend, she has done a remarkable job keeping things low-key. Except for one possible photo of Ellen Page with a current or ex-girlfriend.

Meanwhile, Ellen Page will once again go under the spotlight with the upcoming release of "X-Men: Days of Future Past," with director Bryan Singer under another kind of controversy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bryan Singer is under allegations for sexually abusing a then 17-year-old boy in 1999.

"The claims made against Bryan Singer are completely without merit," says Singer's attorney Marty Singer.

"We are very confident that Bryan will be vindicated in this absurd and defamatory lawsuit. It is obvious that this case was filed in an attempt to get publicity at the time when Bryan's new movie is about to open in a few weeks."

Hopefully this won't sully the movie experience featuring Ellen Page.
