Upcoming HTC Phones 2014: One M8 Ace Could Be The 'Real' Galaxy S5 Killer With Similar Specs But Much Cheaper Price Tag

Upcoming HTC phones 2014: Since its announcement in March, the HTC One M8 has been considered as one of the top Android handsets in the market today. In spite the disappointment of fans for its 4MP UltraPixel camera at the back, the smartphone continues to do well in the market due to its build, design and rich features.

However, while the smartphone has had its fair share of success for the few weeks it has been available, it has not yet undercut Samsung's Galaxy S5 in terms of shipments and sales. But as always, HTC has a plan.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Taiwanese manufacturer is willing to take off the metallic case of the One M8 just in order to develop a device with the same speed and performance, but with a much cheaper price tag.

Dubbed as the One M8 Ace, the smartphone has been showcased in a leaked image by notorious leakster EV Leaks

In the report, the One M8 Ace will boast the same 5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution display of the original flagship, while getting the polycarbonate plastic cover of the highly popular Desire 610 phablet.

Also on board is a Snapdragon 801 chipset, a quad-core CPU running at 2.5GHz, and 2GB of RAM. It would also be practical to keep the duo UltraPixel cameras at the back at 4MP and the great 5MP shooter in front.

Once the HTC One M8 Ace launches, probably initially in China, it is tipped to cost only CN¥3,000 or only $480. This just means that this flagship level device with a plastic shell will have a much better chance of beating the Samsung Galaxy S5 in the punch.

When that time comes, Samsung will have no option but to hope that it is able to keep in step. Unlike the One M8, the Galaxy S5 is already covered in plastic, so such a version is impossible to build.
