Upcoming Sony Phones 2014: Xperia Z2 Will Finally Arrive In The US Through Verizon, Says Accidental Leak

Upcoming Sony phones 2014: When the Xperia Z2 was first mentioned during the MWC event in Barcelona, we were all more than excited to get our hands on it. Aside from the fact that it is stunningly designed as usual, it is also better than Samsung's Galaxy S5 - at least in paper.

Unfortunately, for the past weeks, we have only received bad news after bad news about the shipment woes the company is experiencing. In the UK and Europe where it was supposed to be released a lot earlier, fans are still waiting for the device which they have 'pre-ordered' more than a month ago.

Several days ago, Sony itself announced that for the US it will be the one selling the unlocked versions of the Xperia Z2, much to the disappointment of consumers who are tied or loyal to their respective carriers.

However, in a recent report by GSM Arena, it seems Verizon Wireless will be the first carrier to offer the Xperia Z2 on a contract. An official image of the Sony Xperia 2 bearing the Verizon branding recently appeared on the carrier's Google+ account, only to be taken down minutes later.

Whether it is an accident or a deliberate move to build up hype - we do not know. But one thing is for sure: a lot of Sony and Android fans in the US are happy that the original water resistant phone will make its way to at least one of the local carriers.

Currently, the only US carrier that offers a high-end Sony device is T-Mobile which sells the Xperia Z1s (Z1 Compact).

In case you missed the MWC in February, you may want to refresh your memory and list down these juicy specs from the Sony flagship.

It packs a 5.2-inch Triluminous display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a quad-core CPU running at 2.5GHz, a Snapdragon 801 chipset, 3GB of RAM, and a 20.7MP primary camera.
