Microsoft Surface Tablet: Mini Version Allegedly Appearing On Upcoming Surface Event On May 20

Microsoft Surface tablet: For the past couple of years, the Microsoft tablet has not been able to keep up with the entire tablet world. And now, Microsoft may be preparing another Surface event to replenish its lineup.

According to a blog post by GSM Arena, thhe Redmond based company has just sent out invitations to an upcoming event on May 20.

Based on previous rumors and reports, the star of the show on that event is probably the Surface mini tablet that has been in the rumor mill for quite a while.

Back in 2012 when Microsoft launched the first Surface slate, rumors of a Compact Microsoft Surface tablet also surfaced. And while it did not appear until almost two years later, the fact is that it could make its debut this year.

In comparison, Apple launched its very first iPad mini in 2012 and it immediately garnered popularity across the world because of its portability. Since then, Android OEMs have also been developing 'mini' tablets for the frequent traveler. It resulted in more tablet options, but stiffer competition.

If only Microsoft were able to launch its Surface mini back then, it could be an entirely different playing field for the tablet market today.

Unfortunately, we can only imagine what could have happened. The good thing now is that the Redmond giant wants to make a bolder move toward tablet supremacy with its Windows 8.1 OS.

While a mini version for the Surface tablet is certainly promising, it could all go down if Microsoft is unable to provide a competitive price tag.

It just a couple of weeks away from Microsoft's 'small' Surface event, and we will bring you the latest updates once they come out.
