Motorola Moto G May Have A Cheaper Successor Coming; Upcoming Android Handset Dubbed Moto E Maybe $100 Or Less

Motorola Moto G has changed the game with its super affordable price of $178, all while staying classy in design and updated in its OS. But Motorola is not yet finished in appealing to the lower-end of the market. According to reports, the company may have an Android handset that could be more affordable than the Moto G.

Dubbed the Moto E, the introduction of the handset may occur in the “coming weeks” and the rumored price of the unit is below $100. Could this be the cheapest smartphone yet?

Specs of the said unit leaked the past week and it gives a glimpse of what we prospective users can expect from the handset.

In a report by Phandroid, the company that will soon be owned by Lenovo is rumored to launch a 4.3-inch handset that runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and has dual-sim capabilities.

The specs were uncovered by Brazilian tech site TechnoBlog and it noted that the unit will come in three different variants - XT1021 with single SIM, XT1022 dual SIM, and XT1025 dual SIM with digital TV.

Phandroid lists the specs of the upcoming Motorola handset:

• 4.3-inch display
• 1.2GHz dual-core processor
• 5MP camera
• 1GB RAM
• 4GB internal storage
• 1,900mAh
• Android 4.4 KitKat

Smartphone with the same specs has been confirmed by Mexico tech site Xataka to be launched in the coming weeks, but for a price of $230.

Motorola has shaken the lower-end of the market last year when it announced the launch of the Moto G, a $178 Android-powered handset that bears a sleek design and very competitive specs. The Moto G has been launched in numerous developing markets around the world.

The affordable smartphones being produced by the mobile company begs the question, “how low can Motorola go?” notes Phandroid.

In a space where more and more handsets are being made and consumers from developing countries continue to be a massive market, handset makers find ways to tap into this segment with billions of potential consumers
