"The Amazing Spider Man 2" Petition: Demand For Missing Scenes 'That Will Improve The Movie' Launched! Critics Agree That Electro Was Awful!

"The Amazing Spider Man 2" will be a hit simply because people love Spidey. That doesn't mean they did not put a great deal of effort on the film-they did. Unfortunately, that also doesn't mean they made a good movie.

Perhaps the best fans in the whole universe of comic book movies are Spider Man fans. Ever the constructive critics, one fan from India has filed a petition through change.org for Sony to release a 'director's cut' which will improve the movie.

"In particular, we have seen complaints commonly arise, such as a "disjointed narrative" and a "lack of character development".

I think, as polarizing as the film is, we can all agree as fans that a directors cut of the film would be incredibly beneficial to the franchise.

Some of the scenes rumoured to be in rough cuts but left out in the the final cut shown in cinemas everywhere are;

  • An attack on Oscorp by the Green Goblin
  • An alternate scene in which a tumultuous scene is portrayed differently
  • Extended Times Square and Clocktower scenes
  • Another Peter/Gwen scene.
  • A scene with Max and his Mother
  • A possible espionage plotline in regards to Oscorp.
  • Mary Jane scenes
  • Norman Osborn "Head Scene"

We're not even sure all those scenes exist but it simply reflects how much faith the fans have in the movie's creators-which is very little.

Critics were unanimous that the best part of the movie was the chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone which [SPOILER ALERT] we are never going to see again in this series. But the movie evens out-we will also not see one of the worst things in the movie (if we're lucky): Electro.

Indiewire singled him out in their review: More than one person has noted that Foxx's arc has essentially been lifted from Jim Carrey's Riddler in "Batman Forever"-a nerdy scientist screwed over by his superiors, whose obsession with the hero causes him to go crazy and become a supervillain. Except the execution here makes Carrey looked nuanced and complex. Foxx plays Max like a broad nerd caricature from his "In Living Color" days, borderline inaudible in his mumbly manner, and with his already-unbalanced demeanor and Spider-Man obsession preventing the kind of pathos that you got from the villains of the Raimi movies."

IW also noted that the movie wasted a lot of talent. Jamie Foxx and Dane De Haan are great, talented actors but you have to look elsewhere for you to believe that.

None of the reviews will stop TASM 2 from breaking the half-billion mark and at least two sequels are already in play. Spider Man's appeal will last them until the third movie, the same duration as Sam Raimi's series.

With all the comic book movie choices, moviegoers would want to see better treatment from Sony.
