Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date: Developer Version Of Korean Manufacturer's Top Smartphone Hits Verizon In The US, Costs $599

Samsung Galaxy S5 release date: The Samsung Galaxy S5 could be the best Android smartphone around as some people would claim, but for developers and ROM flashing-addicts, it is just one device where they could experiment on new software builds and apps.

And so if you consider yourself a dev or someone who loves flashing ROMs to your devices, then this could be the flagship device you have been waiting for.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Developer Edition of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is now available, though only from US carrier Verizon.

Like other developer versions released in the past, this edition of the Galaxy S5 will have an unlocked bootloader to make flashing ROMs and sideload certain apps easier.

As the first flagship device this year to get a developer edition, this will certainly help Samsung is capturing the attention of the techy side of the market.

Just in case you forgot all about the specs of this high-end Android smartphone, the Galaxy S5 packs a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a Snapdragon 801 chipset, quad-core CPU clocked at 2.5GHz, 2GB of RAM and a 16GB or 32GB of built in memory.

Also on board is a 16MP primary camera with optical image stabilization, a fingerprint sensor, heart rate monitor, 2,800mAh battery, and Android 4.4.2 Kitkat out of the box.

While the smartphone's design is far from impressive, Samsung has more than made up for it with cool features and functions one of which is the fingerprint reader. It was designed not just for unlocking the device but in launching apps, paying through Paypal, etc.

So with all these juicy specs paired with the Developer Edition branding, would you be willing to get the Samsung Galaxy S5 for $599 through Verizon?
