2NE1, "We Thought Teddy Was Joking About Our Song"

2NE1, who has been known as a hip-hop group, has always played around with different genres of music, mixing hip-hop with rock or ballad. This time, they came back with a unique mixture of electronic and trot. 

Bom commented, "We thought our producer Teddy was joking with us. We thought this song wasn't ours."

CL also commented, "I was so surprised. The first time we heard the song, the trot part was so magnified. After a lot of editing, we managed to tone it down quite a bit. With the mix of electronic and trot, we are able to expand our audience from not just young people but also older people as well.

The song has unique qualities in that sometimes it sounds like a trot and sometimes it sounds like a British pop singer. CL said, "We like to call this 'electro-pop' and in Japan they have a genre called 'enka' so they would be familiar with it. U.S and other states would find this song to be different and fresh."

There were also a few other reasons for this song. One was to portray something different and never heard of, and the other was to show a bit of Korean culture to their international fans.
