Lorde To Be In Charge Of ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ Soundtrack; ‘Royals’ Songstress Confident That Film’s Music Will Surprise People

Lionsgate has just announced that Grammy-winning Lorde will curate the soundtrack for 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' movie which will come out on November 21.

The 17-year-old will lend her musical prowess in handpicking the artists who will be included in the official soundtrack of the film. Director Francis Lawrence says that the 'Royals' songstress is the perfect choice for the project.

"Her immense talent and keen understanding of Mockingjay's characters and themes not only have enabled her to create a song of her own that completely captures the film's essence, but her insight and passion for our project make her the perfect creative force to assemble the other songs on our soundtrack. I can't wait to share what she's done with the fans -- it is truly remarkable" he said.

As per Billboard, the New Zealand native herself couldn't be more excited to curate the songs for the dystopian film:

"Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance. The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people."

Lorde's track, 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World' was likewise featured in the 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' soundtrack.

The 'Hunger Games: Mockingay' soundtrack will be released this fall. For the meantime, Lorde is busy gearing up for a U.S. tour which will commence on September 5 at the Mann Music Center in Philadelphia.
