Top Smartphones 2014: We Are Now Officially 'Blind' As Famous Leakster @evleaks Ceases Operations, Owner Says It 'Comes Down To Money'

For the past two years, Evan Blass has been one of the most influential news sources on the Web, due to his Twitter account @evleaks.

A former Engadget and Pocketnow writer, Blass paved the way for tech blogs and websites, and especially tech-savvy Internet users to get the latest leaks out of the biggest companies in the business - all for free.

However, in a report today by GSM Arena, Blass has announced to 'retire' his @evleaks as a leaker, and a report by the The Next Web, he would only use it for personal means.

TNW has conducted an awesome exclusive interview of Blass and asked him a number of questions about the @evleaks' retirement.

"These matters are always somewhat complicated, but like many things, it mostly comes down to money. Trying to monetize a stream of Twitter leaks is not easy."

Yes, that's right, most, if not all of the leaks found in @evleaks are funded through insiders and other trusted sources in order to give us the latest bits and updates about the Internet. Unfortunately, Blass needs to focus his finances more on his health.

In a previous report by The Verge, the 35-year-old Blass was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, causing intense pain on the hips and back. His condition is reportedly getting worse and so he may need to focus more on his medication.

In spite of Blass' answers as to why he needed to shut down @evleaks, some rumors claim that it may be due to pressure from manufacturers as far as legal issues are concerned. For years, @evleaks have been releasing what companies would consider confidential info, into the Internet.

For the tech news industry, this is certainly a huge blow which will keep us virtually 'blind' about the upcoming smartphones for the following months, and years for that matter.
