The 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions is down to the last bits and pieces. One name that most observers have found surprising to have stayed this far is Shawn Marion. Despite his age, he still has enough hops and hustle to become a contributor.

Now, the player they called "The Matrix" has the same dilemma as Carmelo Anthony, although it's a much smaller scale. A team that suddenly has a dire need of a wingman (Indiana Pacers) can offer him all the opportunity to showcase any talent that he still possesses.

However, the whiff of championship air beckons, and it comes in the form of his former adversary, LeBron James.

"Sources told ESPN.com that the Cavaliers are hosting Marion in Cleveland on Monday and are trying to complete a deal with the former Phoenix Sun and Dallas Maverick despite its inability to offer more than the league minimum.

Cavaliers general manager David Griffin has a strong relationship with Marion from their Phoenix days together and Cleveland, sources said, would love to bring Marion in to add depth, experience and versatility to a core that is expected to also feature Kevin Love if the Cavs complete their long-anticipated traded with Minnesota for the All-Star power forward later this month."

LeBron James just saw his path to the Eastern Conference crown grow a little wider with the injury to Paul George which seemingly reduces the Pacers to an also-ran. Now, the King's team plans to shut the door entirely on any attempts at relevance by nabbing the Pacers target:

"Marion is a natural target for the Indiana Pacers in the wake of the devastating injury suffered over the weekend by Paul George, but sources told ESPN.com that the Cavaliers -- thanks to the presence of James -- have the upper hand over Indiana or anyone else recruiting Marion at this juncture."

On the assumption that the Kevin Love trade will be executed when Andrew Wiggins' 30 day moratorium expires, the Cavs roster will consist of the new Big Three (LeBron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving) and a host of veteran title chasers (assuming Marion would join them) and ex-Lebron compatriots.
