Los Angeles Lakers Roster: Is Beasley The Final Piece To LA's Starting Lineup?

In spite almost using up most of its cap space, the Los Angeles Lakers roster for the upcoming 2014-15 season still looks like an incomplete one, particular in the three position.

It is either Steve Nash or Jeremy Lin running the point, while Kobe Bryant is almost certainly a lock at the two-guard spot. The Lakers front court is already crowded with Carlos Boozer, Ed Davis, Robert Sacre, Jordan Hill and rookie Julius Randle.

The only decent Laker for the third spot is Nick Young, who was one of the key offensive threats for the depleted team last season, averaging 17.9 points and 1.5 assists per game. However, securing just one swingman is not that good considering most of the Lakers' frontcourt do not play the three position.

Insert Michael Beasley, and those problems will seemingly be over.

Beasley has been a reliable scorer in his entire career, with career averages of 13.2 points and 4.9 boards. However, on the defensive end, he has not been known to commit to his defenders, often leaving them open for shots outside, or driving lanes to penetrate the paint.

So in spite a decent skill set to crack the Miami Heat starting lineup last season, coach Erik Spoelstra benched Beasley.

But now that the Beasley is a free agent, the Lakers can definitely use his talents to improve their offensive rating for the upcoming season. He has already proven that given enough minutes, he can certainly deliver the goods. He averaged 19 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists when he played 32 minutes per game in Minnesota.

In addition, Beasley is just 25 years old, and most people forget that he was one of the toughest rivals of D-Rose as the first overall pick in the rookie draft in 2008.

Let's see what the Lakers will do as the off-season slowly comes to a close.
