Playstation Now Beta: EA Access Failure? Release Date, Codes, Price, Games, Forum [REVIEW]

A Sony spokesperson revealed during a recent interview with Game Informer that the company did not implement the EA Access feature for Playstation Now's open beta version because it wasn't worth it.

"We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect," the spokesperson said, according to the site.

"PlayStation Plus memberships are up more than 200 percent since the launch of PlayStation 4, which shows that gamers are looking for memberships that offer a multitude of services, across various devices, for one low price. We don't think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer."

Playstation Now open beta abandoned its multi-month closed version and is available to PS4 gamers in the United States and Canada.

The program's open beta will include over 100 titles in the PS3 games list that weren't available to next-generation console users prior to the release.

Playstation Now open beta does not require older PS3 discs or heavy downloads.  The program has been in private beta since January, when it was originally announced.

"With a strong and stable broadband connection, visual and gameplay quality will be much like what you're used to with other PS3 games," Sony said in an announcement, according to PC magazine.

"Since we're still in Beta, and in the very early days of PS Now, we plan to continue to collect feedback during this Open Beta phase to make further refinements to the service."
