iPad Air 2 Release Date On The Same Day As The iPhone 6? New Apple Slate Will Boast Similar Dimensions, Improved Specs

While a lot of Apple fans have been waiting for the announcement of the iPhone 6, others are also waiting for another Apple device, the iPad Air 2 release date.

According to a recent report by GSM Arena, it looks like the upcoming Apple slate will be launched several weeks up to a month after the Cupertino giant announces its upcoming iPhone.

In several leaked images of the upcoming device, the Apple iPad Air 2 looks exactly like its predecessor, which is certainly not a bad thing.

The original iPad Air received rave reviews when it was launched last year, thanks to its slimmer design and rounded edges. In fact, reports show that the iPad Air (or iPad 5) outsold the more compact and cheaper iPad mini 2, even with its Retina display.

Given the success of the previous generation, there is absolutely no reason for Apple to shed the well-received thin design of the iPad Air.

One change, however, which would be apparent in the coming Apple device is its home button, due to the Touch ID home button that will be placed on the tablet. This is also the first time a tablet will get a fingerprint sensor.

Other notable changes for the iPad Air 2 include a faster A8 chip that supports 64-bit applications and the updated iOS 8 which supports home automation features, and puts high emphasis on health-related functions.

What's interesting to look at is that rumor claims that the upcoming iPad Air 2 would be even thinner than its predecessor. If that's the case, then the upcoming Apple slate could do even better than its predecessor, and once again outperform this year's smaller iPad.

Still, we have to take all of these details with a pinch of salt and wait for Apple to make the official announcement.
