'Dishonored 2' Rumored To Be Announced At Gamescon: Alleged Leak About Main Character, Setting, And Development [PHOTO]

There have been an explosion of rumors surrounding "Dishonored 2."

A sequel was not announced by Arkane Studios and Bethesda until an off-screen photo of a Dishonored 2 slide was posted online. The image showed the logo for the sequel on a supposed slide presentation behind a seemingly closed-doors conference. The slide had the "Darkness of Tyvia" hashtag on it and had the caption "Witness the full reveal at E3 2014!"

The authenticity of the image was questionable since the hashtag did not turn up any sort of image results. When asked about the image, a Bethesda representative only said, "We do not comment on rumor or speculation."

"Dishonored 2" did not make any appearances during the Electronic Entertainment Expo back in July, which only meant that the screenshot was faked. The possibility of a sequel seemed bleak and fans were disappointed until NowGamer reported that a sequel was actually in development.

Now Gamer recently said that "  details on Dishonored 2's main character, setting and development that were revealed to us by a source.  In the wake of that report, rumours regarding a possible Gamescom announcement for Dishonored 2 on PS4, Xbox One and PC have emerged.  That information comes from an anonymous email sent to VG247 which, as well as stating that Dishonored 2 will be announced as a PS4, Xbox One and PC title at Gamescom 2014, claims that Dishonored 2 is slated for a November 2015 release

Given that this information comes from an anonymous source, we can only guess as to whether it is fake or not.

However, we can assure that the leaked information we previously published about Dishonored 2 does come from a trustworthy source. "

The leaked information in question is as follows:

Dishonored 2 is being developed by Arkane's Lyon studio. Co-creative director, Harvey Smith is heading the project alongside Raphael Colontonio. The changes involved in the sequel could be a new protagonist, a new setting, and a new story.

The protagonist of the first Dishonored game Corvo, will be replaced by Emily Kaldwin another character from the first game, NowGamer reported. Her appearance and placement as a protagonist suggests that the sequel happens years after the first game.

The sequel could also be taking place somewhere outside Dunwall, where the first game took place. It is still uncertain as to which among the four cities is to be chosen for Dishonored 2. Tyvia is the most likely setting as the alleged full title of the sequel is the "Darkness of Tyvia."

No official release date has been announced yet but if the "faked" screenshot of the slide holds any truth, then 2016 will be the likely release.

The first Dishonored was released in 2012 by developers Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game received critical acclaim and was praised by a lot of video game reviewers.

The only thing that is certain is that last year Bethesda confirmed that "certainly it's something that we feel is a franchise." Everything else is speculation.
