Upcoming Android Phones 2014: Chinese Brand Xiaomi Not Done Yet, Unleashes Phablet Redmi Note 4G, Costs Only $162 In China

There are a number of upcoming Android phones for 2014, especially now that we are approaching the IFA event in Berlin.

However, if you can't wait to get your hands on a huge smartphone but only has a decent budget, then Xiaomi has answered your prayers.

Just a couple of days ago, the Chinese manufacturer unleashed another top-selling smartphone in the midrange category, and we're still not sure if we should consider this phone a midranger, as its pricing is already in the entry-level category.

According to the report by GSM Arena, Xiaomi's newest phablet, the Redmi Note 4G only costs around CNY 999 in China, or only $162.

Given this very cheap price tag, we can only imagine that this smartphone is an entry level handset with 3.5-inch display, 512MB RAM and no 5MP camera. But the Redmi Note 4G has specs that is better than even the best midrangers available in the market today.

The Android-powered handset packs a 5.5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, an impressive 2GB RAM, a Qualcomm MSM8928 Snapdragon 400 with a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.6GHz.

The phone also features an 8GB built-in memory which is expandable by up to 64GB via the available microSD card slot.

At the back of the device lies the 13MP primary camera with LED flash, and the phone runs on Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat out of the box, with Xiaomi's homebaked UI MIUI v.5.0 on top. The phone is powered by a huge 3,200mAh battery which should be enough to make the phone last for an entire day with moderate to heavy use.

Xiaomi is certainly breaking all the set standards in the smartphone world as far as pricing is concerned, and soon enough, the Chinese brand will overtake even the big players in the world market.
