Upcoming Windows Phones 2014: WP 8.1-Powered HTC One M8 Could Be Better Tha Nokia Lumia 930 As 'Flagship Windows Phone'

It's just over a week since we first heard the news about one of the upcoming Windows phones for 2014, and it's not from Nokia, Samsung or the Indian manufacturers which have been releasing WP 8.1-powered devices lately.

It is from HTC, and it's none other than the One M8, which was initially designed to run on Android Kit Kat.

While the official unveiling of the Windows Phone 8.1-powered HTC One M8 would still be on August 19, a new report claims that the device would almost certainly be available internationally.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the smartphone from the Taiwanese manufacturer has appeared in a Dutch carrier website. It was pictured alongside the iPhone 5s and the Samsung Galaxy S4, and we're not sure why the device is in between year-old handsets.

However, it is clear that the One M8's image has the latest Windows Phone 8.1 live tiles.

Now that the HTC One M8 WP 8.1 version will arrive in the market, what does it mean for Nokia?

As for Microsoft, as long as its Windows Phone platform gets promoted, it may not bother whether the Nokia flagship, Lumia 930 would be outmatched.

Specswise, the HTC One M8 is certainly the better handset with its Snapdragon 801 chipset, 2GB of RAM, and a number of cool features such as the Dot View support for interactive cases.

Meanwhile, the Lumia 930 has an edge when it comes to the camera department, as it boasts a 20MP primary camera with CarlZeiss optics as opposed to the One M8's underwhelming 4MP UltraPixel Duo camera. Meanwhile, the half of the camera deparment favors the Taiwanese brand due to its 5MP front cam.

We'll see which WP 8.1 flagship holds up when the One M8 becomes official and hits stores probably by the end of the month.
