Cleveland Cavaliers' Dion Waiters Is Dwyane Wade 2.0? Controversial Guard Was Warned By LeBron James' Prior To Decision: 'Be Ready!'

The Cleveland Cavaliers' Dion Waiters actually emerged as a LeBron James' favorite perhaps because his style of play is reminiscent, to some extent, to Dwyane Wade. The King even warned him about his possible transfer before the decision was made.

Things are looking way up for Cleveland, and the power rankings have been shaken from top to bottom. The Cavs, with the imminent arrival of Kevin Love, become the favorites in the Eastern Conference and even the entire NBA if you look at the Las Vegas odds.

Dion Waiters, controversial last season because of his feud with Kyrie Irving has worked himself back in the favor of Cleveland fans. It also helps a heap that he was one very influential endorser. LeBron James was so eager to have him as part of his crew, he even warned him about the impending transfer:

From an interview with Slam Online, Waiters shares:

"We've talked. I actually talked with LeBron before he made his decision. He called me and just told me to be ready. Be ready. I talked to him four or five days before he made his decision. He just got on the phone and said I haven't made my mind up yet but be ready."

To his credit, Waiters really plans on emulating the effective chemistry between James and Wade that led to four Finals appearances and two championships. From ESPN:

"I have to make adjustments. I like to have the ball and we have Kyrie, and he likes to have the ball. So I have to find ways to impact the game without having the ball. I'm planning to go watch tape to see what D-Wade did when he played with LeBron. I need to learn how to be effective out there with him."

"(Wade) is a ball-dominant guard too, and when LeBron came over he had to change his game too. He was so efficient, though, and that really helped their game. I think I can learn a lot from what he did."

Everything changes with LeBron on board, usually for the better. And now they'll also have Kevin Love. The Cavs are the Beasts of the East.
