‘24: Live Another Day’ Season 2 Likely After Finale Ratings Surge? Season 10 Renewal ‘Possible,’ Director Teases

"24: Live Another Day" season 2 may be more possible than ever, after ratings for the finale show a huge surge. The ratings were even higher than the "24" series finale! Does this mean a "24: Live Another Day" season 2 - or "24" season 10 renewal - is very likely?

According to Los Angeles Times, Live-plus-7 ratings (which includes viewership on non-linear platforms Video On Demand, Hulu and FOX Now) the "24: Live Another Day" finale, which aired on July 14, is on its way to surpassing its 2010 "24" series finale.

"Viewership of the Fox drama grew 45%, from 6.5 million to 9.4 million viewers. Fox projects the series finale will reach 10.7 million viewers -- a 12% increase in viewership from 10.4 million total viewers in 2010 -- when 30 days of multi-platform viewing is taken into account," the Los Angeles Times writes.

Will Somers, senior vice president of research at Fox Broadcasting Company, told the Los Angeles Times: "Here you have a show that started in 2001 when there was nothing measured other than live TV viewing. During its eight-season run, DVR was just being brought into Nielsen's measurement. Now, the show is back in its new incarnation when there's really a new dramatically changed environment with multi-platform viewing schedule."

As we previously reported, director Jon Cassar told Yahoo TV that there is a possibility for "24: Live Another Day" season 2 or a "24" season 10 renewal:

"What does that silent clock mean at the end? I don't know if we know that yet. There were so many conversations about what the end should be. And not that we're 100 percent sure that this is the end, yet, the absolute end, but there is a possibility, so you're trying to serve both masters. You're trying to serve, if this is the end, is this the way we want it to end? And you're trying to serve, if it's not the end, what do we do to keep it open?"
