Oppo N1 Mini Officially Launched, Will It Out-Perform Its Older Sibling?

A couple of days ago, Oppo finally launched its mini version of the N1. Is it worth the steep price?

If you have been checking out on the latest Android smartphones since last year, the Oppo N1 is considered as one of the most unique smartphones in the business with swivel its swivel 13MP camera.

That's right, the rear camera automatically rotates whenever you choose the front-facing shooter.

Due to the success and warm reception of Oppo's unique smartphone, the Chinese brand decided to make a mini version of the Android phone, dubbed simply as the N1 mini.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the 'mini' smartphone will get a 5-inch display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, which is certainly not mini by today's standards. But while the Oppo N1 is a high-end device, the N1 mini is a midranger which is supposed to target the mass market, particularly in China.

On the performance side, the Oppo N1 mini packs a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.6Ghz, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset, Adreno 305 GPU, 2GB of RAM and a 16GB built-in memory.

However, the main selling point of the N1 mini is its 13MP primary that is capable of 24MP ultra HD resolution. Aside from the camera, other specs include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 4G LTE connectivity.

Unfortunately, the phone runs only on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean which may not be too appealing for KitKat fans. The Oppo N1 mini is powered by 2,140mAh battery which should be enough to last for an entire day with moderate use.

In spite the promising midrange specs, the decent design of the N1, and the swivel camera, the Android handset costs around $438, much higher than current midrangers today.

Do you think the N1 mini is worth it?
