NBA Trade Rumors: Thaddeus Young To Minnesota Talks Continue As Timberwolves Want A Veteran In The Kevin Love Haul; Sixers To Take Bennett

The rumors about Thaddeus Young being involved in the Kevin Love trade resurfaced as the Minnesota Timberwolves would not let go of their prized player without a veteran to take his place.

It was previously reported that Minnesota required this as a condition and that the Cavs were willing to shed Dion Waiters. This has been debunked as Waiters seemed to give the impression that LeBron James wants him to stick around.

The trade now centers on Anthony Bennett, last year's first overall pick.

The report from Philly Daily News:

 "A source informed the Daily News that the Sixers will be sending veteran forward Thaddeus Young to Minnesota for a package that will include Bennett, the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NBA draft.

The deal, which two sources have confirmed to the Associated Press, will not be official until Aug. 23, when Wiggins, this year's No. 1 draft pick, becomes eligible to be traded.

It has been reported that Minnesota sees Young as the right guy to fill Love's shoes. The Timberwolves, it has been reported, could use the first-round pick they get from the Cavaliers to help entice the Sixers to part with the 26-year-old Young, but that has not been confirmed."

For the Sixers, it's another way to shed salary and get even younger. Bennett, who disappointed with his play last season has a chance to redeem himself. Besides, NBC Sports mentions:

"Young doesn't fit into Philadelphia's rebuilding plans. The 26-year-old is too old and too good. Bennett, whose potential mostly remains untapped, is a better fit there."

It would fit with Minnesota's short term goal to appease their fans who would be devastated with the departure of another Kevin that they drafted to become the league's best power forward-the first one was Kevin Garnett.

There is still no word on whether Minnesota will continue with including Kevin Martin and/or JJ Barea in its salary dumping exercise.
