John Wall Claims Team USA Never Gave Him A Fair Shot! 'In Their Mind, They Already Had A Decision;' Is DeMarcus Cousins Out, Too?

John Wall, an All-Star point guard that's slowly making waves in the NBA, was one of the first to be cut from the Team USA national pool. He claims that his tryouts went well, but suggested that he was not the type of player they wanted.

To be fair, he doesn't have any bad blood towards Team USA and any of its officials. In fact, he says he'll take another shot when the opportunity presents itself.

Wall spoke to CSN Washington with the choice comments:

Was he given a fair shot? "Nah, I don't think so, but it's a part of the game. I'm just happy to have the opportunity to be there and represent my country. I wish them the best of luck and hope they can win gold."

Wall evaluates his performance: "It was cool. It wasn't bad at all ('It' refers to his knee which was recently treated)I got through the whole week. I thought I played pretty well. Things didn't go in my favor. But, we'll (get) past it."

When it was suggested that maybe it's because he was a late invite: "I've been (around) for four years in a row. I think that's enough time. Everybody had the same fair amount of time as far as being (in Las Vegas) and playing. I think [Team USA] already had kind of in their mind what they wanted to do and what decisions they were going (to make)."

The idea is that the late invite was merely to consider John Wall in the future, but for this year, especially since there was an abundance of guards, Wall and his Wizards sidekick Bradley Beal didn't really stand a chance.

CSN Washington points out: "The cut followed a split-squad scrimmage during which Wall struggled with turnovers. Bradley Beal, Wall's backcourt partner with the Wizards, shined in the scrimmage, but was also cut along with Atlanta's Paul Millsap."

If Wall is not their type of player, then Wall's college teammate DeMarcus Cousins is probably on the bubble as well. Both players were known as superb talents but have yet to maximize them whether in college or the NBA. The only difference is Cousins plays center and Team USA has a steep shortage of that.
