NBA Trade Rumors; Roy Hibbert For Goran Dragic Rejected By Suns! Also Tried Greg Monroe! Indiana Pacers On A Trading Spree?

The NBA Trade Rumors have shifted to non-Kevin Love involved teams. The Indiana Pacers are in a precarious situation after Paul George's injury, and now they are looking to rebuild.

Roy Hibbert, the imposing center who was supposed to be the Indiana Pacers' edge against the Miami Heat, fizzled out late in the season. Now, the Pacers allegedly attempted what was unthinkable a year ago.

From NBC Sports: "There's been buzz around the league that the Pacers are testing the trade value of Roy Hibbert - they are in for a rough season and he can opt out next summer - and even called the Suns to talk about Goran Dragic. Hopefully the Suns brass were polite and hung up the phone before laughing at that offer."

NBC Sports cited that the original source was a foreign website and it was actually translated to English. Unless there is a public admission, it's difficult to verify whether such a call took place. Still, there are indications that the Pacers really want to rebuild.

Roy Hibbert became the catalyst for the team's playoff woes as every bad performance resulted in a loss. His teammates, particularly George, managed to extend their season to the Eastern Conference Finals where they were handily beaten by LeBron James and the Miami Heat.

NBC cited that it is possible that there were discussions:

"As far as this particular trade offer, it's worth noting that teams have conversations all the time involving a variety of assets, and those talks rarely get to the formal offer stage. But simply looking at the money owed to each player along with how they performed last season, it's easy to see why the Suns were far less motivated to execute a trade like this."

However, there is simply no reason to trade Dragic for Hibbert. Goran's play is on the upswing, and he finished tenth in the MVP statistical race. Gone are the days when a center like Hibbert can command a trade for a point guard who is much better than he is. Height is no longer such a coveted asset, and a dynamic player like Dragic is gold for any team. Not to mention Hibbert's salary is almost double that of Dragic.

The implication, though, is that the Pacers are now willing to try anything. They might be willing to trade anyone not named Paul George.
