Donatas Montiejunas: Dwight Howard, James Harden Comment Misquoted! Declares He Wants To Play For Lakers!

The Houston Rockets' back-up center should feel positive that the team has finally opened up for him. The deal that sent Omer Asik to the Pelicans means the Lithuanian center will be Dwight Howard's main back-up. But he doesn't seem content with that.

Right in the middle of the James Harden vs Chandler Parsons feud that never was, Montiejunas added fuel to the fire when he made a comment that Dwight Howard and James Harden do not eat with the rest of their teammates. It really sounds bad after the James Harden cornerstones vs role players comment he made in the Philippines.

Now he has to clarify the statement because the general impression was that Howard and Harden are bad teammates.

From the Houston Rockets blog "Ultimate Rockets" Montiejunas calls from Lithuania:

"The radio show, the guys that work there, make fun of everybody. It's a funny radio show. Everybody in Lithuania listens. They told me to try to be funny, try to make the jokes. They told me to be free. They asked some question. I joked about one thing. I joked about the other thing.

"We never have problems. For example, last year Dwight invited me and other players to Thanksgiving dinner. James and Dwight bought us give us gifts for Christmas. We go to eat most of the all of the time. I talked with Dwight today. I talk to Dwight all the time. He said he understands. Me and Dwight, we communicate pretty good in the locker room. I never had a problem."

Of course, by this time many people will call damage control. Howard and Harden are two players who are not exactly the best bro-types. It may be an inaccurate impression, but it was partially borne out of their decisions to bolt their former teams (for the record, Harden was traded but the impression was his camp forced the trade because Harden won't sign the extension).

Speaking of former teams, Montiejunas was asked on which team he'd like to play if he left Houston. His straight answer:

"Most likely in Los Angeles because there are no serious bigs and I would likely get chances to play. I mean the Lakers, not the Clippers."

The Lakers are a destination of choice for bench players seeking a bigger role and a place under the spotlight. Laker games get on national TV even when they are playing badly. The only problem is, the Lakers are not looking for that type of player.
