Upcoming HTC Phones 2014: New Desire Handset Gets First Ever 64-Bit Chip From Qualcomm, Packs 4.7" Display, 5MP Shooter, Quad-Core CPU

While Samsung, Sony and Apple are all preparing for their press events next month, HTC may be silently working on one of its upcoming HTC phones for 2014, and should be released some time next month as well.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Taiwanese brand is working on a midrange Desire handset that will pack the first of its kind chipset.

In the report, the upcoming HTC handset dubbed as the A11 will pack Qualcomm 64-bit chip, the manufacturer's first. The chip is dubbed as Snapdragon 401 and will make its debut in the HTC device.

Aside from the interesting 64-bit chip, the Desire smartphone is just like your ordinary midranger. It packs a 4.7-inch display with 854 x 480 resolution, 1.4GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU, and an Adreno 306 GPU for decent graphics performance.

Unfortunately, there's no word how much RAM the device will have, though on the camera department, the HTC smartphone will pack a 5MP primary camera and a VGA front shooter.

In the report, the device may hit Sprint stores in the US in the coming weeks or months, though we're pretty sure the Taiwanese manufacturer may already be ramping up the production as the heavyweights of the Android realm are expected to make a splash during the IFA event in Berlin.

As per its annual schedule, HTC usually does not take part in the IFA event and decides to hold press events on its own. The Taiwanese brand is still struggling to make ends meet in spite releasing some of the best-looking smartphones in the market.

We'll expect HTC to make one last push in the market when it announces a successor to the HTC One max phablet. The Taiwanese brand may also continue its Butterfly lineup and release it to the international market.
